"Bucha" is a feature film that tells the true story of Kazakh citizen Kostiantyn Hudauskas, who saved more than 200 civilians during the Russian occupation of Kyiv region, including the well-known Ukrainian composer Igor Poklada and his family. The film shows the bravery and unity of Ukrainians at the beginning of the war.

The world premiere of the film took place in the main competition of the 40th Warsaw Film Festival, where "Bucha" took second place in audience sympathy among 57 films, losing only to the Polish film "Where Do We Begin" by Monika Majorek.

"Bucha" is a unique project because the producers refused government funding from the beginning. The film was made through donations and private investments from concerned individuals from Ukraine, Poland, Canada, and the USA.

The film features leading Ukrainian actors: Viacheslav Dovzhenko, Artemii Yehorov, Serhii Strel'nykov, Oleksandr Pecherytsia, Anastasiia Nesterenko, Nikon Fedotov, Serhii Smiian, Tetiana Vashnevka, and others. The famous Polish theatre and film actor Cezary Łukaszewicz played the role of Kostiantyn.

The film's director, Stanislav Tiunov, was previously a producer of the romantic comedy "Meeting in Vegas". "Bucha" is his first full-length film as a director.

Stanislav says: "The film explores deep philosophical meanings, emphasizing love and perseverance over fear and aggression."

The film's producer and screenplay writer, Oleksandr Shchur, is one of Ukraine's leading screenwriters.

Oleksandr notes: "When I learned about the story of a Lithuanian Jew from Kazakhstan who, instead of leaving, decided to save Ukrainians from occupation, I immediately understood that it was a story that would resonate with audiences anywhere in the world".
