Animation is an illusion of motion of drawings or illustrations. The term is derived from Latin, meaning "multiplication". The simplest animation appeared as early as the 19th century. But animated films reached their peak after the invention of photography, in 1908. Disney's "Fantasia" became a second wind for the genre, and subsequently new animated films began to be created using stereo sound. According to the method of creation, animation can be divided into two types - volumetric films and graphic ones. In the first case, volumetric and flat bas-reliefs and puppets are made, and the action in the frame is carried out by changes in position. If the film is graphic, flat drawings, shadows and silhouettes are created and overlaid on each other. At the end of the 20th century, animated films entered the modern era of computer technology. Full-length cartoons made with computer graphics began to appear actively after Pixar's "Toy Story". Animation has become an integral part of the film industry, and there are even separate categories of the Academy Awards given for the best animated films.
