Plot

Detective William Somerset, a veteran of criminal investigation, dreams of retiring and getting away from the city and its sinful residents. Seven days before retirement, two unpleasant things happen to Somerset: his young partner Mills and a particularly sophisticated murder. The experienced investigator's sharp mind immediately identifies that others are likely to follow this crime. News confirms his suspicion. Understanding that the killer punishes his victims for their mortal sins, the detective is faced with a choice: return to work or leave and hand over the case to his less experienced partner?
