Horror movies appeared almost immediately with the birth of cinema. The gothic of gloomy plots by Edgar Allan Poe, Howard Lovecraft, and Mary Shelley quickly became popular among the romantic society and came to life on screen. The plot of horror is built on a certain sequence of episodes that keep the audience in tension, scare them, unexpectedly cause feelings of panic and anxiety, a sense of approaching danger. The first horror film was made back in 1896, Georges Melies and his "The Devil's Castle" gave a start to the development of the genre. The beginning of the 20th century was marked by a special interest in cinema - new horror films were created using advanced technologies, and unique subgenres began to be invented. With the onset of the Cold War, crime science fiction was invented. After decades of developing thrillers, in the early 60s, horror found another expression - in the form of Alfred Hitchcock's suspense.
