Plot
«DOVZHENKO. The First Glance» takes the viewer to Odesa in 1926, a time when Ukrainian cinema was just beginning to find its own voice. At the center of the story is young Oleksandr Dovzhenko, who arrives in Odesa to shoot his first film. He dreams of cinema that will be art, not a tool of propaganda, but he encounters a system that is unwilling to let an artist speak freely in his own language.
«DOVZHENKO. The First Glance» — is a story about the moment when Ukrainian cinema was just being born, and one young director dared to dream about it in his own way.
