Comedy is a genre of art whose main goal is to entertain the viewer. Comedy films often do not have a strong meaning, and the plot takes a back seat. The name comes from the Greek term "komodia", which was used to denote plays that made the audience laugh. With the advent of silent cinema, the first comedy films appeared - it is enough to recall the legendary "A Trip to the Moon" in 1902 or the films with Charlie Chaplin. Before the advent of sound, so-called "slapstick" or "eccentric comedies" were popular, in which the focus was on the action. Comedy was created by special effects - repeated actions, accelerated or slowed down movements, and scrolling frames. There should be no static - one event should be replaced by the next as quickly as possible. Nowadays, the key characteristics of the genre can be named as the presence of humor, sharp satire, farce, and ironic ridicule of life situations. The best comedy films are created with images and realities that are close to modern people. Comedic parodies, romantic comedies, classic tragicomedies, and comedic horrors - new comedies combine features of absolutely different genres of cinematography.
